Fulbright agreement for the creation of three scholarships
The Carla Mercurio Foundation and the Fulbright Commission for Cultural Exchanges between Italy and the United States of America have signed a three-year agreement for the creation of scholarships to be used for medical-scientific research into the rare neurological disease resulting from alteration of the ‘G Protein Subunit Alpha O1’ (GNAO1) gene. Reserved for Italian graduates enrolled in a doctorate or specialisation course, the winners of the ‘Fulbright’ competition will have the opportunity to travel to laboratories and universities in the United States for a 6-month research period, at the end of which they will have to return to Italy to complete the training they have undertaken.
